Our Alfalfa Seed (Medicago sativa) is a premium, high-germination, inoculated (or pre-inoculated/coated) blend designed for resilience, vigor, and productivity. It’s ideal for hay, pasture, wildlife food plots, or cover cropping systems. Because alfalfa naturally fixes nitrogen, it enhances soil health while producing high-protein biomass.

DIRECTIONS
Soil preparation: Test and adjust soil pH to ~6.8–7.1. Ensure good drainage and remove weeds or crop residues.
Seeding rate: Use ~12–15 lb/acre for pure stands (adjust for mixes or local conditions).
Seeding depth: Place seed at ¼ to ½ inch depth in medium soils; ½ to 1 inch in sandy soils. Ensure firm soil contact.
Seed treatment/inoculation: If seed is not pre-inoculated, treat with appropriate Rhizobium inoculant and a sticker to adhere before planting.
Planting timing: Best in spring or early summer when soil is warm and moisture is available. In warmer zones, late summer plantings may work.
Management: Control weeds during establishment; limit extra nitrogen applications (to avoid competition); mow or graze carefully.
Irrigation / moisture: Maintain soil moisture during germination.
First cut / use: In forage systems, harvest when plants reach early bloom; for wildlife uses, allow regrowth.
